In the commune of Cedry Wielkie, a large coal-fired boiler plant which supplied hot water and central heating to ten 12-family buildings belonging to the “Żuławy” Housing Cooperative was closed down and replaced by heat pumps with 40 kW in each building, controlled by weather automation. On the roofs of all buildings PV installations have been installed (from 12.5 to 19 kW each), with total power over 154 kW. The electricity produced is used by heat pumps as well as for lighting corridors and staircases. The cost of the project is about 2.4 million PLN. The “Żuławy” Housing Cooperative for its implementation received about 25% subsidy and 75% loan through the Voivodship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk under the Priority Programme “Prosument” (eng. prosumer).
